Sharon was born and raised in Hawaii, and was working long hours in the medical profession. A sudden illness forced her to stay at home; her doctor advised her to do something less stressful and with more flexible hours. Sharon returned to what she always loved to do—baking. After studying and baking from home, friends and neighbors encouraged her to start her own business. Shabri of Hawaii, Inc. was launched in 2002. The name is a combination of her name, Sharon, and her former business partner's name, Brian.

Shabri of Hawaii originally had its products in several different local stores. Sharon prefers to go directly to the consumer via various craft fairs and Chamber of Commerce events. "I wanted to be different by interacting with the customer; and after taking a bite of my products, people always say that my cookies and bread are as good as homemade, if not better."

Sharon's family is also active in the business including daughter Kiri, grandson Kristoffoer, and husband Tom. "Tom is a great salesman at the booth. After giving samples to people, he'll ask them if they feel a tremor because of the reaction that people have once they've tasted homemade." Kiri is the business manager for the company, and Kristoffoer helps out at the food booth on the weekends.
